A 4 × 2 m nest of 10 mm stainless sheets looks harmless—until you try to lift the third piece with gloved hands and realise the top plate has vacuum-sealed itself to the one below. Suddenly you need two extra people, a crowbar and half an hour you didn’t budget for. Herochu’s Sheetmaster range ends that drama. Every plate lives in its own smooth-rolling drawer, rated 500–2,000 kg and extending 100 % into the crane aisle. One operator, one vacuum lifter, one minute. Stock is visible, labelled and traceable; floors stay clear and foremen stay calm.
Multi-layer drawers – independence day for every sheet
Traditional cantilever racks force you to unload the top arm before you can reach the middle. Our independent drawer units let you pull level 3 while levels 1, 2 and 4 stay put. Drawers are built from 4 mm Q235B hot-rolled steel, welded in a jig then stress-relieved at 600 °C so they don’t twist after the first load. Cold-rolled C-channel guides and sealed bearing pulleys give a 28:1 mechanical advantage; a 70 kg apprentice can roll out 2 tonne of copper busbar without a T-handle—although we still ship one for ergonomic bragging rights.
Adjustable partition system – dividers that move faster than your schedule
Each drawer arrives with two movable dividers and a set of grid plates. Slide them to create 300 mm, 600 mm or any odd-ball width your laser off-cut demands. Dividers are laser-cut 3 mm plate with a 20 mm return lip so sharp edges don’t snag forklift slings. Powder-coated safety yellow, they scream “touch me, move me” instead of disappearing under a film of workshop dust.
Fully enclosed guide rails – grit-proof, jam-proof
The rail cassette is closed top and bottom with 2 mm press-formed covers. Swarf, coolant and the inevitable washer that fell off the forklift can’t reach the bearings. If you do manage to force a ball bearing to fail, the cartridge snaps out with two screws and a new one drops in—no need to remove the drawer or unload 1,5 tonne of plate.
High-strength frame – built for humid, dusty, spatter-filled lives
Uprights are 200 × 100 × 6 mm RHS, base plates 12 mm with 26 mm anchor holes rated for 15 kN uplift. After welding, the whole carcass is shot-blasted Sa 2.5, zinc-primed and finished with 80 µm textured powder coat. Salt-spray test: 1,000 h no red rust—handy if your store faces the ocean or the chemical wash bay next door.
Anti-tipping logic – because gravity never sleeps
Each drawer carries a double latch: a limit lock that clicks at 80 % extension and a fall-arrest hook that bites if the floor is uneven. The cabinet itself is cross-braced with 40 × 40 mm angle so even three 2 tonne drawers extended at the same time can’t shift the centre of gravity past the front foot. (Yes, we tried. No, we don’t recommend making it a daily ritual.)
Visual label system – give every plate a passport
Laser-etched 304 stainless tags are riveted to the drawer face. You get five lines: part number, grade, thickness, quantity and a QR code that links to your WMS. Scan with a phone, update stock in real time, print a new tag if the remnant shrinks. No more chalk that washes off when the cleaner drops a bucket.
Sheetmaster configurations – from 3 shelves to 8, single or double-sided
- Standard: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 drawers, 550 lb (2,5 t) each, hand-crank T-handle.
- Bi-directional: drawers extend from both faces so one rack feeds two aisles—halve your real estate.
- Folding door option: mesh gates close while the drawer is parked, open automatically when you crank out—keeps laser dust off high-polish aluminium.
- Fork-lift risers: 200 mm fork pockets so you can drag a loaded unit to the press brake overnight, then slide it back.
- Rear loading: drop a full bundle from the truck through the back wall; drawers index forward for first-in-first-out.
Crane, magnet, vacuum or forklift – pick your weapon
Drawer tops are flush with 1,5 m high fork tines when extended. A vacuum lifter can walk the sheet straight onto the CNC table without lowering to floor height. Magnets love the 4 mm top plate—no flex, no permanent deformation. And because the drawer is 100 % out, the crane driver always sees the hook and the load.
